The Norwalk summer teams picked up four wins over Oskaloosa Monday, with game 2 of the softball doubleheader airing on KNIA3. The Class 4A #4 Warrior softball team found themselves tied with the Indians 1-1 after the first inning of game 1, but a run scored in the fourth was enough for a 2-1 victory. Norwalk took game 2 3-0 in a fast-paced game. Jaylynn Brandt drove in the game’s first run in the third, and Jayden Lammers broke the game open with an RBI double in the fifth.

Another Brandt RBI would complete the scoring and secure the sweep. Brandt had two base hits and two RBI’s to lead the way offensively. Addi Downe pitched the complete game, giving up two hits and one walk while striking out six batters. Norwalk improves to 19-6 overall and 12-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. They’ll head to Newton Wednesday for a single game.

The #9 in Class 4A Norwalk baseball team swept the doubleheader by scores of 8-0 and 8-3. Game 1 saw the Warriors go on top 1-0 in the first, but a five-run second inning opened the gap, and Norwalk cruised the rest of the way. Evan Borst’s home run highlighted the game while he picked up nine strikeouts on the mound.

A methodical effort in game 2 saw the Warriors score two runs in the third and fourth innings. Oskaloosa’s only runs of the night came in the sixth, but the Warriors answered with a three-spot of their own in the bottom of the frame. Tyler Wegner had two base hits while Dylan Christensen was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits in five innings of work. Norwalk improves to 20-1 overall and 12-1 in conference play. They’ll be at Newton Wednesday for a single game.
