The PCM summer sports teams hosted Greene County Monday night and the softball team won their matchup 6-3 while the baseball team fell 3-1.

On the softball diamond, PCM broke out of their offensive slump and found creative ways to score runs. Sidney Shaver went 0-0 at the plate but walked or was hit by pitch four times to score two Mustangs runs. Greene County mounted a rally in the top of the sixth scoring two runs, but RaeAnn Duinink’s solo shot over the left field fence put the game out of reach. Paige Steenhoek was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs. Head Coach Shaun Hudnut said that his pitchers’ ability to force ground ball outs has led to their success this year.

The PCM baseball team couldn’t find a rhythm offensively as they mustered just four hits in their loss to the Rams. Caleb Duinink provided half of the PCM hits notching a single and a double. Andrew Mitchell took the loss on the bump for the Mustangs as they fell to 6-9 on the season.

Both the PCM summer sports teams play host tonight as softball will welcome Lynnville-Sully to Monroe and baseball welcomes Roland-Story to Prairie City. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
