The Pella School Board met for the first of two summer sessions Monday afternoon. The board approved building and department handbook changes, which includes some revisions to attendance policy, fundraisers and spending for activities, and other changes in language. Additional staff handbook updates were also approved, which includes a new 30-day introductory period for benefits, updated family sick leave policy, holiday details, mandatory child abuse reporter training guidelines, and more. A resolution on the agenda transferred $40,000 from the general fund to activities, to help offset losses due to state or conference-imposed COVID-19 attendance guidelines during the 2020-21 academic year. A 28E Agreement for Newton for the WEST Academy Alternative Program and a clinical affiliation agreement with William Penn were also approved.
