Pleasantville’s softball squad had a phenomenal defensive performance as the Trojans upset No. 7 in Class 2A Earlham, 7-3, while the baseball squad shut out the Cardinals 10-0.
The Trojans’ softball squad were led by a complete game performance on the mound by Faith Vanderhart, giving up three runs on six hits. Hannah Gibson provided the key hit of the game, with a two-run home run in the third inning. Amber McKinney went two for four with two doubles and two RBIs. The win puts Pleasantville at 12-15 on the season.
The Trojans’ baseball squad were catapulted by an eight-run second inning. Jake Dejoode was a jack-of-all-trades as he picked up the win on the mound and had a great day at the plate. Dejoode struck out six and went two for three with three RBIs. Trevor Daggett also had a double in the victory. Pleasantville now stands at 10-13 on the year.
Pleasantville’s baseball squad will be back in action for a non-conference game at Collins-Maxwell today and will begin at 7:00 PM. The softball squad will have a couple days off before travelling to Madrid for a doubleheader Thursday.
