Drought conditions remained largely unchanged in south central Iowa, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report.
Almost the entire region remains in moderate drought, with northwestern Warren and Jasper Counties and most of Polk County rated as severe.
While 1-3” of rain–and some localized higher amounts, fell over the weekend, the impact mostly stopped what was rapidly spreading dryness. By this Saturday evening, another 1-2” of rain will have likely fallen in South Central Iowa, with some seeing closer to 3-4” depending on the track of thunderstorms. That precipitation will be factored into next week’s Drought Monitor report.
