Pleasantville’s softball squad continues to win key conference games as they sweep their doubleheader, where baseball splits their doubleheader as they both played at Madrid.
Pleasantville’s softball squad took game one in a resounding victory, 17-0. The Trojans put 13 runs in the second inning. Faith Vanderhart gave up just one hit on the mound and went two for three with a double and three RBIs. Game two was much of the same as Pleasantville used a ten-run fifth to win 15-6. Amber McKinney went four for five with a home run and four RBIs, while Hannah Gibson hit two home runs in the victory. The win is Pleasantville’s fifth straight, putting them at 14-15 on the season.
The Trojans’ baseball squad took game one in a resounding way by the final score of 10-2. Isaac Mann had a big game, going three for four with a double and three RBIs. Austin McMillin picked up the win on the mound, striking out nine in six innings. Pleasantville was unable to duplicate the offensive output in game two, losing 4-1. Aaron Wilkins’ hot bat continued as he went three for three with two doubles in the loss. Pleasantville now stands at 11-14-1 on the year.
The Trojans’ softball squad will be back in action Saturday for the Ankeny Centennial Tournament, playing against Iowa City High and Davis County. The Trojans’ baseball squad will be back in action as part of a baseball/softball doubleheader Monday with No. 5 in class 2A Des Moines Christian.
