Twin Cedars summer sports had a great day on the diamonds as the baseball team defeated Moravia 9-4 and Seymour 6-3, while Sabers softball blew out Seymour 17-0.
The Sabers started their day of baseball trailing Moravia 4-0 after two innings of play, but rallied behind Devin Arkema’s fantastic performance on the mound, pitching five innings, striking out 11 and allowing no runs on one hit and adding two hits at the plate. Dallas and Kasey Clark both went 2-4 at the dish as Twin Cedars defeated the Mohawks.
The Twin Cedars baseball team then loaded up the bus and traveled to Seymour, where Blake Micetich threw four innings of no-hit baseball, striking out four. Kade Dunkin had a pair of doubles as the Sabers took the contest after the teams agreed to end the game after 4⅔ innings. Following a fun day of baseball, Head Coach Mark Schroeder said the team comradery is making his job easy. Twin Cedars now is 10-4 in Bluegrass Conference play and 11-6 overall.
On the softball diamond, the Sabers made quick work of Seymour with a 17-0 blowout. Grace Bailey tossed a perfect three innings in the circle for Twin Cedars. The offense notched 14 hits, led by Ali Mockenhaupt who went 3-3 with three RBIs. Jillian French hit her third homer of the season and batted in five runs. The win gives the Sabers a 12-1 conference record and a 22-8 record overall.
If weather permits, the Twin Cedars summer teams will host Mormon Trail tonight at 5:30 p.m.
