Melcher-Dallas’ baseball squad overcame a two-run deficit to knock off Murray, 7-4 while the softball squad routed the Mustangs, 11-1.
The Saints’ baseball squad trailed 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth and came away with back-to-back clutch RBI hits from Logan Godfrey and Cole Metz made it 6-4. The final insurance run was a sacrifice fly by Ryan Krpan. Metz went two for three with a double and three RBIs in the victory. Owen Suntken picked up the win on the mound, giving up four runs on five hits in six innings of work. With the win, Melcher-Dallas climbs above .500 with a 10-9 record.
The Saints’ softball squad scored three runs in each of the final three innings to pull away from Murray and come away with the victory. Haley Godfrey went three for three with three runs scored and three RBIs. BrieAnna Remster’s dominant pitching continues as she gives up one run on three hits and strikes out nine. Melcher-Dallas won their fifth straight game to put them at 21-5 on the season.
Both teams will be back in action today in home matchups as the softball squad will begin the Coal Miners’ Tournament against Seymour at 9:00 AM. The baseball squad will continue their previously postponed conference matchup with Mormon Trail today at 1:00 PM. The game will pick up in the top of the second inning with the Saints trailing 1-0.
