indianola-3

Winterset hit four home runs as they built a large early game lead over the Indianola softball team Saturday, as the Indians fell 10-7 to end their 18-game winning streak.

Winterset hit a three-run and two-run home run in the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead, before Destiny Lewis hit a three-run bomb of her own to cut the deficit to 5-3 after the third inning. The comeback was stalled soon after however, as the Huskies hit another three-run home run and a solo shot in the fifth to build a 9-3 lead. Lewis hit another RBI single in the bottom of the innings followed by a Kylee Tucker RBI single to get the deficit down to four runs again, but Winterset scored again in the seventh and a two-run inning for the Indians fell short.

Head coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports her squad is ramping up to the end of the season, but are still focused only on the games in front of them and the product they put out on the field night in and night out.

Lewis was 3-4 on the day with five runs batted in. The Indians are now 26-4 on the season, and will resume conference play Monday hosting Newton.
