Three local teams competed at the Pella Sports Park Saturday at the annual Pella Christian Softball Invitational.

Knoxville finished 2-0, Pella Christian was 1-1, and PCM was 1-1, with the Eagles locking up against both local schools.

The Eagles defeated the Mustangs 8-5 and fell to the Panthers 2-0. Bailey Roose and Jarah Morgan each recorded home runs in the opener against PCM. Pella Christian is now 12-16 overall and will join the baseball team in Oskaloosa Monday for a single Little Hawkeye Conference matchup.

Knoxville didn’t give up a run in their two games, which included the 2-0 win over the host Eagles and an 11-0 victory over Grinnell. Against the Tigers, Ashlyn Finarty allowed one hit and struck out six in five innings, and also hit a home run on offense. Against the Eagles, Ciara Heffron gave up just three baserunners in seven innings.

After falling to the Eagles in the opener, the Mustangs dominated Belle Plaine in five innings 11-1. PCM was paced by four hits on the day each from Sidney Shaver and Belle Hudnut and a seven-RBI, three-triple day from Riley Johannes. The Mustangs are 12-12 and head to West Marshall Monday.
