The Indianola City Council held a study session last week regarding the implementation of the city Rental Inspection Program. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News Iowa law states any community with a population of over 15,000, which Indianola is expected to be once the census numbers become official, must have a rental inspection program.

“The goal is to have this in place soon. We were going to try to tie it into when we were getting the census numbers from the 2020 census. Unfortunately, the 2020 census numbers are being delayed due to Covid, so we are trying to get this up and running before that and be ready to go.”

Waller also said the city council has budgeted for the program and the new hire that comes along with it, so they are prepared to implement the program as soon as possible.
