The Pella softball team is less than two weeks away from the start of the 2021 postseason, and they started the final full week of the regular season with a 9-8 upset win over Grinnell Monday, the team they’ll play in the 4A Regional opener. The Pella baseball team fell 5-3 to the No. 4 in 3A Tigers.

Tori Van Vark went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a 2B, and Kylie Tauke scored three times after a 2-for-4 performance. Hailey Van Vark earned her first career win in the circle in 6 1/3 innings, striking out six in the effort. Pella improves to 5-24 and 2-15 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and hosts North Mahaska this evening.

The Pella baseball team took a lead and scored two runs in the final inning, but gave up five in between to the Tigers. Now 13-10 overall and 8-8 in the league, the Dutch step out of the Little Hawkeye today to compete against North Polk at Principal Park. Head Coach Jesse Jablonski is excited for the opportunity to play at the special venue that hosted the state tournament up until last summer. The last time Pella played at the home of the Iowa Cubs, it was in the 2016 3A State Semifinals at the end of back-to-back top four finishes at the state tournament.
