Pleasantville’s softball squad shut out Des Moines Christian 12-0, while the baseball squad came up just short to the No. 5 in Class 2A Lions 6-5.

The Trojans’ softball squad scored in every inning and mustered 11 total hits in the victory. Beka Dyer had one her best games of the season at the plate, going two for two with two doubles and three RBIs. Malorie McKinney also had a solo home run in the third inning. Faith Vanderhart pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out four in the victory. With the win, Pleasantville gets back to .500 with a 15-15 record.

The Trojans’ baseball squad fought valiantly, but ultimately came up just short. Three players for Pleasantville had two hits, including doubles from Trevor Daggett and Caylor Clark. Clark also batted in two runs. Aaron Wilkins struck out four in six innings of work. The loss puts Pleasantville at 11-15-1 on the season. Coach Sheldon Card tells KNIA Sports that despite the loss, he is impressed with how his team improved offensively this season.

Both teams will be back in action today for another West Central Conference matchup at Interstate-35. The softball squad will play at 5:30 PM while the baseball squad will play at 7:00 PM.
