Three key errors by the Pella defense was the difference in a 6-2 loss to North Polk on the baseball diamond at Principal Park in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Pella opened the scoring with a two-out single in the first inning, only for the Comets to answer due to the first Dutch defensive miscue. In the bottom of the third, two infield errors were bookended by several hits, including a bases-clearing triple that allowed North Polk to take control.
The Dutch were able to get several on-base in their comeback attempt, but stranded a total of 10 baserunners on the afternoon. Keagan Miedema pitched six innings and struck out six, giving up three earned runs of the six total on the board for the Comets. Nick DeJong was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Ryan Mace finished with two hits as well.
Pella falls to 13-11 overall and looks to bounce back at home against Pella Christian this evening in a varsity doubleheader. Hear live coverage beginning at 5 p.m. of the Tulip City twin bill on 92.1 KRLS.
