Today is the final day to vote in the #IowansUnited Community Pride Contest. Numerous cities around the state have submitted videos highlighting their community pride, including Knoxville and Pella. Knoxville Interim City Manager Heather Ussery says the community that receives the most votes will receive the gift of a mural by Iowa artist Ben Schuh.

“We have a community pride contest that the Iowa Economic Development Authority is putting on. It’s a video in support of our downtown and our small businesses. We have the link on our Facebook page, and we recommend people vote each day. It runs through June 30th, and is by popularity. If we win that, we would receive a mural from a renowned Iowa artist. We would love to have a mural welcoming people to our downtown.”

Mary Mansfield with the PACE Alliance and Spirit of Pella says as part of their entry, they were inspired to share details about how the community responded to COVID-19.

Voting closes at 5:00 p.m. today. Click here to vote.
