The Knoxville Police Department will hold its third Freedom 5K on Saturday to coincide with Knoxville’s Fourth of July activities. Chief Aaron Fuller says the department is working with local businesses to put on this community event to encourage positive relationships with the police.

“We’re working with Raemakers Screen Printing, and we have KPD Freedom 5K buffs or gators, whatever you want to call them, that’s our giveaway this year. The proceeds go toward a scholarship to a Knoxville High School student who’s interested in going into criminal justice. It’s a community event we put on to encourage people to get out and exercise, be healthy, and to have a positive experience with our officers.”

Registration costs $30, and begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, with the race beginning at 8:00. Pre-registration is available here.
