The #6 in Class 4A Norwalk baseball team was at Principal Park Tuesday afternoon for a matchup with Southeast Polk, and came out on top 5-3, as aired on 94.3 KNIA. Norwalk got the scoring started early with two runs driven in by Dylan Christensen.
The Warriors tacked on another in the frame, and went two scoreless innings before the next scoring in the bottom of the fourth. That’s when Dylan Christensen was walked with the bases loaded, and a Casey Greenlee single drove in Norwalk’s final run. The Rams put together a brief rally in the seventh where they scored all their runs, but the Warriors closed it out with the tying run aboard.
Greenlee had two hits and drove in two runs to lead offensively. Evan Borst was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out nine in 5 ⅓ innings pitched. Norwalk moves to 24-2 overall and returns to action tonight at Indianola for a doubleheader. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 p.m. on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Michael Borst calling the action.
The #4 in Class 4A Norwalk softball team had a road trip to #1 in Class 4A Winterset, and fell 13-3 in six innings. A strong fourth inning for the Warriors allowed all three runs to score, and it was 4-3 Huskies heading into the fifth. But Winterset piled on five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to enact the run rule and end the game. Norwalk moves to 21-9 overall and returns to action tonight in a doubleheader at Indianola. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 on 94.3 KNIA with Andrew Swadner calling the action.
