With Fourth of July events taking place this weekend, attendees are reminded to continue to take pride in their parks. Knoxville Parks & Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says it takes a community effort, especially during large events.
“It takes everyone to keep our parks looking good. We’re kind of limited sometimes on staff on days we’re at Auld Park, so we need the public’s help. I know it’s not great to bend down and pick up a piece of trash that isn’t yoursyour’s. Go ahead and wash your hands afterwards or whatever you’ve got to do. It does take everybody. We don’t have people in there telling people to pick stuff off the ground. It takes everybody to keep those places looking nice.”
Nemmers also reminds those in attendance this weekend to report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities to help maintain a safe environment for this weekend’s festivities.
