The defending 3A baseball state champions finished the week clinching the Little Hawkeye Conference title, as Norwalk claimed a 7-1 win over Pella Christian, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Thursday.
It was the final league game for both the Warriors and Eagles, and started with the road team scoring three runs with three P.C. errors fueling the rally. Both teams would keep it scoreless, until the Eagles scratched home a run in the bottom of the 4th. Norwalk would add insurance with a pair of runs each in the 6th and 7th innings.
Warriors Head Coach Chad Wiedmann was impressed with how the team battled back, despite several games and a pair of tough losses Monday and again in Wednesday’s twin bill with Indianola.
Eagles Head Coach Braden Shull is looking for faster starts from his pitchers and defense, as Pella Christian has given up the winning run in the first inning of four consecutive games.
Norwalk finishes the 2021 conference championship with an 18-3 league record and 26-3 overall mark; while the Eagles have one regular season game remaining next week with an 8-21 overall record and 5-16 conference mark.
