The Pella Christian softball team found a signature win to close out the 2021 regular season, knocking off No. 4 in 4A Norwalk with an 8-4 win Thursday night on Eagle Lane.
Both teams would trade runs in the first innings, and the Warriors would take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 3rd, when the home team Eagles would put up a four spot keyed by the top four spots in the line up, who all scored runs. Norwalk added two tallies, keyed by doubles from Taylor Condon and Kaylee Cary, to make it a one-run game.
A three-run home run by Natalie Harrill was the decisive blow in the bottom of the 6th, and the Eagles hung on to earn the victory. Faith Kacmarynski of Pella Christian was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
The Eagles finish the regular season 14-18 overall and 6-15 in the conference; Norwalk heads into this weekend’s DCG softball tournament on a four game losing streak at 21-12 overall and 14-7 against league opponents.
