Melcher-Dallas’ baseball squad’s comeback attempt against Ankeny Christian came up just short as they lost, 8-7.

The Saints fell behind 7-0 after four innings and fought back to score three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings of work. After the Eagles extended their lead back to two, Melcher-Dallas got one run across, but it wasn’t enough. Steven Krpan finished three for four with a double and two RBIs. Mason DeJong went two for four with two RBIs in the loss. Melcher-Dallas drops to 13-11 on the season.

Melcher-Dallas will take the weekend off to prepare for two games on Monday as they finish a matchup with Moravia that began Wednesday. Then they will have a home non-conference matchup with North Mahaska. The game against the Warhawks will be a preview to the first-round playoff matchup between the two teams.
