The Competine Trail project in Knoxville is mostly completed. Parks & Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says that while the trail itself is fully paved and available for use, some aesthetics are still being finished.
“They’re in the seeding phase right now, so you’ll see some seed being thrown down. There’s still some weeds along the trail, but that’s on the contractor’s list to till those up. We’re still working through some drainage issues on the sides of the trail. The signage is up, the bicycle symbols on Streeter and Gordon streets are painted, you can stop the traffic when you cross Highway 14. It’s been a long time coming. I appreciate everyone’s patience, but we’re excited. There’s been a lot of usage.”
Nemmers says a grand opening will take place in the coming weeks when all aspects are complete.
