Four unearned runs were too much for Pella to overcome on the road to Ballard in a 4-2 baseball loss Wednesday. Four Pella errors and nine Bombers hits led to the tallies in a contest the Dutch trailed in the majority of. Jason Knox continued his hot week, with a 2-for-4 performance giving him seven hits in the past three games, and Tate Weesner contributed an RBI and two innings of relief on the mound. Pella falls to 17-13 overall and next hosts Bondurant-Farrar Friday, a game that could be moved due to pending storms expected that evening.
The postseason journey begins this evening for the Lady Dutch softball team, who has won five of their last seven dating back to June 26th. Pella travels to Grinnell in the Class 4A Regional playoffs. The Lady Dutch knocked off the Tigers on June 28th in a 9-8 victory that may be the signature win for a Pella team that found just two wins in the first five weeks of the season prior to that evening. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. from Grinnell High School on 92.1 KRLS.
