Austin Hill won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Corn Belt 150 Friday night at the Knoxville Raceway. Hill had to endure four late restarts due to NASCAR’s overtime rule to secure his ninth career trucks win. Tonight it is back to sprint car racing and for some of the competitors they will race without wings as the USAC National Sprint Cars make their visit to Knoxville for the Corn Belt Clash. One of the drivers who hopes to have a winning night is Kevin Thomas Jr., who is coming off a win in the last USAC outing at Putnamville, Indiana and is currently 3rd in the points standings. Thomas tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with the USAC format, it is all about passing cars in the heat races to put yourself in position to score the win.

Thomas:
“If you’re good in qualifying you have to race through the heat race and get the invert right in the feature. You have to find a good balance and not waste a lot of time passing cars.”
