The hit-or-miss nature of storms this summer continued across south central Iowa Friday into early this morning. While the widespread severe threat never materialized in the evening, the KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air for a storm that brought large hail to northern Warren County from 2:06 to 3 p.m., with six staff members contributing to coverage, and updates from Weatherology meteorologists. While baseball sized hail impacted portions of Dallas County and the Des Moines metro, quarter to ping pong ball sized hail was confirmed along and north of Highway 92 in Warren County.

As of 4 a.m. today, all communities in the area have received at least some rainfall, however, those further north locally received more precipitation on average, with widespread amounts between 1-2″ north of 92 since Thursday, and between 1/2″ to 1″ in the southern half of Marion and Warren Counties.
