The #8 in Class 4A Norwalk baseball team hosted #10 in Class 3A Boone Friday evening, and dropped a 5-2 decision. The Toreadors got on the board with one run apiece in the second, third and fourth innings before adding two in the fifth to complete the scoring. The Warriors were held off the board until the bottom of the seventh, when a rally came up short. Norwalk moves to 27-5 overall, and travels to North Polk Monday.
The #6 in Class 4A Norwalk softball team will host Oskaloosa tonight in the Region 6 semifinals. The Warriors are playing their first postseason game after earning the #1 seed in the region. Norwalk will look to recover from a stumble to end the regular season, going 3-9 in the season’s final two weeks. On the other side, Oskaloosa enters as winners of seven of eight. The Indians got to this round with an 8-3 home win over Washington Thursday. It will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season. Norwalk won the regular season series 2-1, and swept the doubleheader in Norwalk.
