The Knoxville Public Library is hosting the Connect 2 Careers Program of Iowa Workforce Development for an interview skills workshop Tuesday. The program is intended for those who are entering the workforce soon or who are fairly new to it to learn about career paths, map out what kind of experience they’ll need, and practice their interviewing skills.
The program is open to those ages 14-24 who are looking for long-term employment, need experience to gain skills, and committed to their career growth. The organization offers connections to employers, paid work experience positions, resume and interview preparation, and one-on-one career guidance. Heather Libby with the library says this is a unique opportunity for young adults in Knoxville to gain valuable skills.
“While the Iowa Workforce Development is based in Des Moines, they are making efforts to come into communities. Now is a great time for people to come to this. You might be thinking about what career opportunities there are. They have information on that. For somebody who has no work experience, it’s hard. Sometimes to get a job, you have to have had a job. They’ll talk about the hot career trends right now in the state. We’re just happy to partner with these organizations here.”
The event runs Tuesday, July 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Knoxville Public Library. Snacks will be provided.
