Melcher-Dallas’ baseball squad had a successful season, going 15-14, but perhaps the biggest highlight of the season was what Coach Pat Ferguson did at the end of the regular season.
At the beginning of the season, Ferguson told his team that he would dye his hair a crazy color if the Saints achieved more than his career-high in wins during a season. Until 2021, the most wins Ferguson had in a season were 13. Melcher-Dallas had 13 wins going into the final doubleheader of the season against Colo-Nesco. After the Saints swept the doubleheader, Ferguson and his coaching staff dyed their hair bright pink in celebration of the best season of Ferguson’s career. The 15 wins are also the most wins for Melcher-Dallas in the Varsity-Bound era.
With seven starters returning for the Saints in 2022, Ferguson will look for his team to build off the 15 wins and come away with an even better win total in the following season.
