Pleasantville’s baseball squad will look to continue their Cinderella postseason run as they travel to Marshalltown to take on West Marshall in the Class 2A Substate Semifinal today.
The Trojans are coming into today’s game after knocking PCM and upsetting Des Moines Christian in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Pleasantville was catapulted to victory thanks to a tremendous pitching performance from Austin McMillin, giving up one run on three hits in seven innings of work. This will be the third time Pleasantville goes up against West Marshall in the VarsityBound era, their last matchup being in 2019. West Marshall won the last matchup with an 11-10 victory. Coach Sheldon Card tells KNIA Sports that he believes his team is difficult to beat because of how they can surprise people with their play.
Card also states that his team needs to continue to play at a higher level in order to pull off the upset. The Trojan War will begin at West Marshall High School tonight at 7:00 PM.
