If you ask anyone on the Knoxville Softball Squad when was the turning point of the season, they all will tell you it was a weekend trip to Creston. The Panthers had just come off a disappointing loss to Albia, a game they committed six errors and lost 6-4, and fell to 8-4 on the season and in coach Carla Smith’s words were not playing very good softball. Following that trip to Creston, the Panthers finished the season winning 12 of their final 15 games. Smith says that weekend the girls got to know each other off the field and came together as a team. Knoxville finished the year 22-9 and graduated no seniors.
