Approximately 26 tornadoes swept through Iowa last Wednesday, according to initial surveys conducted by the National Weather Service. That number is 3rd most in a single day in Iowa history, and the highest total since 21 different tornadoes swept across the state on July 19th, 2021 — the day an EF-3 storm destroyed a portion of Vermeer Corporation’s campus. It’s been three years since the tornado along the mile, and Vermeer used the destruction as an opportunity to rebuild and later expand, including completion of multiple state-of-the-art facilities, such as the new Plant 7 and Eco Center.
