The same type of opportunities the Pella Christian softball team cashed in on in the road to Fort Dodge were not taken advantage of in the first round of the State Softball tournament, as the Eagles fell to No. 1 Wilton 7-2, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Monday afternoon.

A similar script kicked off the day for the Eagles, highlighted by a two-run double from Natalie Harrill in the first inning. The Beavers took advantage of a few miscues to tie the game at two after one, and a solo home run from No. 9 hitter Charlotte Brown put Pella Christian behind for the first time during the entire postseason in the bottom of the 2nd.

The Eagles would load the bases with nobody out in the 4th, only to come up empty, and ran themselves into a double play on the bases following an Emma Eekhoff single, instead of what would have been a bases-loaded, one out scenario in the 5th down by three. Sixteen Wilton hits were too much to keep from scoring their seven runs.

Today marks the final day of sports in the Tulip City for 2020-21, as the Eagles softball team (now 17-19 overall) takes on North Union in the 2A consolation round; the Warriors fell 7-4 against Earlham shortly after the conclusion of the P.C. contest. Hear coverage of the Pella Christian/North Union game, starting at 12:30 this afternoon on 92.1 KRLS.
