As sophomores, Jetta Sterner and Chloe Durian started 20 and 23 games for the Sabers softball team but struggled to get on base. Not only did they improve as juniors, they received recognition for performances this season.
Sterner finished her sophomore season with a .173 batting average, but put in the work in the offseason to more than double that average this season. Sterner was selected to the Bluegrass Conference’s first team with a .354 batting average. Durian saw slightly more success as a sophomore batting .250, but struggled defensively with a .899 fielding percentage. As a junior Durian improved her batting average to .350 and improved her fielding by 14 points, something that caught the attention of Head Coach Zack Dunkin. Durian joined Sterner and three other Sabers on the All-Conference first team.
