Head Baseball Coach Mark Schroeder had five seniors on his team this past season, a luxury that won’t repeat next summer. The Sabers expect to return just two seniors next season in Devin Arkema and Dallas Clark. Arkema was the ace of the pitching staff this year and posted a 4-2 record with a 2.67 ERA. As a hitter, Arkema tied the team high in triples and stole 27 bases, which was the third most for a Sabers squad that finished 7th in Class 1A in the stat. Clark finished second on the team in stolen bases with 28 and led Twin Cedars in walks. The Sabers will look for them and the underclassmen to step up in the effort to replace the five 2021 seniors who made significant contributions to the success of the program in recent years.
