On Monday we begin our Top 10 Sports Stories of the 2020-21 school year series for Simpson College, counting the top moments from all fall, winter, spring, and summer sports from the past year. Here are some great moments that stood out but did not make the list.

HONORABLE MENTION
The Simpson College women’s basketball team earned a 57-17 lead in the first half against a solid Dubuque Spartans team en route to putting up 103 points with no player scoring more than 17 points on the squad.

HONORABLE MENTION
The Simpson College baseball team made a late run in American Rivers Conference play to earn the six-seed in the postseason tournament, and would get a dominant performance from Brady Held on the mound giving up just three hits as the Storm defeated third-seeded Loras 12-3. Held struck out nine batters, and earned the first five outs via strikeout.

HONORABLE MENTION
The Simpson women’s soccer team picked up a huge win over rival Luther in April 2-0, earning the shutout over the Norse despite giving up 12 shots. Julie Wagoner and Cassie Nash scored the goals for the Storm, while keeper Brenny Frederick stopped four shots as the Storm defensive wall played masterfully.
