The tradition of speed continued for the Pella girls track and field team in 2021 despite the year away from competition, and an early season race set the tone for what would eventually be an Elite All-State year for the sprinters of the Lady Dutch.

At Dallas Center-Grimes on April 3rd, the Lady Dutch 4×100 Relay of Delanie Reynolds, Roselande Vanderhoff, Marissa Hackman, and Emily McMartin broke the 50 second mark and the Drake Relays Blue Standard — earning an automatic bid at the returning showcase of Iowa’s elite high school athletes.

Interview from April 14th:

The Lady Dutch would place 5th at the Drake Relays on April 22nd, and despite a mid-season injury to Vanderhoff, kept churning out fast times with Calla Kerndt until the group fully reunited at state qualifying.

INTERVIEW FROM 2021 STATE MEET:

On the final day of the 2021 state meet– which was a return trip back at Drake Stadium, Pella’s 4×100 group finished 2nd fastest in both Class 3A and in the entire state regardless of class, earning Elite All-State honors, after earning a bid in the preliminaries earlier in the weekend. It capped off a trio of Top 3 finishes for Pella’s girls sprinting relays, including the 4×200 and the Sprint Medley Relay.
