A big milestone on the hardwood gives us our number seven moment on the countdown of PCM top 10 sports moments. The PCM boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season, and in doing so, gave PCM Boys Basketball Coach Fred Lorensen his 600th career win in a 63-51 victory over Greene County.
The Mustangs got out to a hot start, outscoring Greene County 16-4 in the first quarter. They led at the break 38-16 before Greene County came back and outscored PCM 21-9 in the third. PCM was able to pull away in the fourth thanks to strong defense and clutch free-throw shooting from Andrew Mitchell and Sage Burns.
PCM had a tie for the scoring lead, with Mitchell and Grant Landgrebe each pouring in 16 points. Durant Van Dyke had the next highest amount of points on the team with 15. Gaitlin Boell had 12 off the bench, including two of PCM’s six three-pointers. Head Coach Fred Lorensen told KRLS Sports that it was more important to get the first win of the season than it was to get his 600th career victory.
