The number seven moment on our countdown of the Twin Cedars sports season came from the softball diamond, as the Sabers won the season series in a big rivalry. The Twin Cedars softball played Melcher-Dallas three times this season and won two of those matchups. They won the second game of the series 3-1 and the last matchup in the 1A Regional tournament 7-2.
In the second matchup the two teams played to break the tie among themselves atop the Bluegrass Conference standings. Twin Cedars walked away on top over the Saints softball team. Rylee Dunkin, Jullian French, and Ali Mockenhaupt each batted in the three runs for the Sabers in the contest. Grace Bailey took the win on the rubber allowing just three hits and striking out five.
In the Regional Tournament game, Grace Bailey threw a complete game for the Sabers, allowing just two runs, and struck out nine to collect the win. Kisha Reed had a pair of base knocks to lead the Sabers offense, while Bailey drove in three runs for the Sabers.
