The United States House of Representatives passed the Allies Act of 2021, a bill that grants immigration status to thousands of translators that assisted US Military forces in the Afghanistan War. Congresswoman Cindy Axne tells KNIA News she voted in favor of the bipartisan legislation because helping the US Military put them and their families at risk, and it was simply the right thing to do.
“Credit is often given to these brave Afghan men and women for helping to save lives and build communities etc. And now the time comes as we wind down our military presence there, that we uphold these commitments to our trusted partners. I’m proud to vote for this. It’s bipartisan legislation, and I think we all realize that we should support those who support our folks in service and our great protectors of our democracy. It’s a good bill and I’m happy to be supporting it.”
