The Henry Knox Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently placed a marker at the Marion County Courthouse to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. Marla Suter with the organization says that events such as this help teach about history, which is an important way to guide our way into the future.
“I don’t think you can effectively march into the future without understanding where you’ve been in the past. Learning what has worked and what has not worked I think is a tool that everyone needs to have to be successful. If we don’t understand and are not familiar with our history, those mistakes are going to be repeated. It’s a look into the past, so you can look into the future with clearer lenses.”
The Henry Knox Chapter always welcomes new members, and is a continually growing organization. Suter says members are available to help those interested find their genealogy. Learn more on an upcoming In Depth.
