Heather Ussery takes over the Knoxville City Manager position as a Knoxville native. She says this gives her an advantage, knowing the community well and having prior relationships with those she will serve.

“It’s important to me to work in the city I grew up in. I graduated from here, I met my husband here, we raise our kids here. This position and the decisions I make mean a lot to me because it’s my community, and I hope my decisions better the community. With the knowledge I’ve gained in my 14 years of working with the city, I feel like I have an advantage when it comes to moving forward.”
