The countdown of the top ten stories of the 2020-21 school year for Melcher-Dallas takes us to the softball diamond where there was one of the best seasons in the program’s history.

The Saints tied a school record in 2021 with 27 wins to just nine losses. The wins also included a 16-2 record in Bluegrass Conference play. Among those were ending Twin Cedars’ 27-game conference winning streak with a 3-2 victory. The wins also included winning streaks of six and seven games respectively. Melcher-Dallas also won the Northwood-Kensett tournament with victories over the host and Lake Mills.

Melcher-Dallas also advanced to the second round of the playoffs after shutting out Mormon Trail, 10-0. Even though the season did not end the way Melcher-Dallas hoped, a 27-win season was a great way to send off Jim Crozier as he retired.
