The countdown of the top ten stories of the 2020-21 school year for Melcher-Dallas takes us to the track where a senior made her second state track appearance during her career.

Saints’ senior Grace Overgaard consistently set not only personal records, but school records in shot put and discus in nearly every meet that she competed in this season. At the district final meet in Madrid, Overgaard finished second in both shot put and discus behind Danielle Hoyle of Paton-Churdan. Overgaard threw 112’2” in the discus event and 38’4” in the shot put.

Overgaard competed in the state tournament at Drake stadium, where she placed in the top 15 in both events. She placed sixth in shot put with a length of 36’9.5” and 12th in discus with a length of 105’11”. Overgaard finished her career in Melcher-Dallas as one of the better track athletes in recent history.
