Counting down the top 10 sports stories of the year for Simpson College with #1. The Simpson College women’s basketball team won their first American Rivers Conference title in eight seasons, and finished off an undefeated season against Coe in the conference championship game in an overtime classic.

The Storm and Kohawks fought back and forth all game long, with the score close until the opening minutes of the fourth quarter when the Storm rattled off a 19-0 run to seemingly put the game away, but the run was answered by a 17-3 Coe run that tied the score at 76 with just 12 seconds remaining.

A free throw put the Storm up one, but Coe hit a subsequent three-point bucket that put them up two and threatened the conference title, but Cameron Kincaid was fouled as time expired and made both free throws to force overtime.

Simpson outscored the Kohawks 10-5 in the extra period to claim the title, and finish with a perfect 12-0 season record.
