Hot air and humidity return to the region through Tuesday evening. A heat advisory is in effect from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Daytime highs in the low-to-mid 90s are in the forecast, with heat index values approaching 105 in the afternoon and early evening hours. In those conditions, sunstroke, heat exhaustion, and muscle cramps are possible with exposure outdoors. All residents should stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in air conditioning, and check on vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children. Additionally, pets and kids should never be left inside of a vehicle.
Slightly cooler conditions will arrive by Wednesday after a chance for severe weather returns to the region Tuesday evening, however, heat index values in the upper 90s are expected Wednesday and Thursday in the afternoon and early evening hours. A much more significant cooldown will come by Friday, according to the National Weather Service, with highs in the low 80s through the weekend.
