The Knoxville City Council received a presentation from Polson Developments at its meeting Monday regarding planning for implementation strategies for the VA campus development. City Manager Heather Ussery says this lays out plans so that development can immediately begin upon completion of demolition.

“We were discussing Phase 1 of what the infrastructure and street improvements would look like, and where we would begin marketing for the sale of land. Then, we would like to be reaching out to a civil engineer, as well as land architects to be designing the park area that will be up front at West Pleasant. There’s a lot that has been happening over the last couple months, and we thought it would be good to give the council an update on where we are and a direction to move forward.”

According to the plan, demolition is scheduled to be completed in June 2022, but this infrastructure work could begin in the spring. Construction of housing would begin in spring 2023. View the plan here, and hear more on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
