An All-State Pella Christian football graduate is taking his next steps into the collegiate game this fall. Cody Boender was a 2021 graduate from Eagle Lane who joined the up-and-coming Dordt Football program.

Cody is excited to take his talents to a team that has seen a ton of recent success with Tulip City alumni and to try and push them even further than last year’s playoff appearance into the future.

“This program has been definitely on the rise, and when they started recruited me my sophomore year, I was like a lot of people from Pella saying, ‘no way, I’m not going to Dordt, it’s not going to happen,’ but sure enough, I went there on a visit and driving home with my parents and said, ‘this felt like home, and I loved it.”

“I’m really looking forward to joining this powerhouse team on the rise.”

Boender was a Class 1A 2nd Team All-State selection by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. His 102 ½ total tackles ranked 4th among athletes in classes statewide this past fall.

Hear more from Boender about his transition from Eagle Lane to Sioux Center on this week’s Radio Sports Page, which airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
