At Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting, a resolution was passed in support of Knoxville Economic Development Corporation’s application for Iowa Redevelopment tax credits. City Manager Heather Ussery says the intended use of this tax credit will go toward the housing units to be built on the site of the former East Elementary.

“The Knoxville Economic Development Corporation is going to be submitting an application for Grayfield Brownfield credits through the State of Iowa. It’s a competitive process, so having a resolution of local support from the city of Knoxville helps them out. The city passed a resolution that we are in support of the East Village project.”

The plan calls for 12 housing units to be constructed on the property. Read more about the city’s plans for this site here.
