Kathleen Haley-Taylor of Knoxville won first place and $250 in the Bud Elwell’s Old Fashioned Fudge contest at the Iowa State Fair last Saturday. Contestants were challenged to create an award-winning fudge that does not contain marshmallow or marshmallow creme. Entries were judged on taste and texture.

Haley-Taylor’s fudge entry was among 134 divisions, 603 classes, and nearly 6500 entries at this year’s fair.
