One new COVID-19 death locally was reported in the latest weekly update from the State of Iowa database. In total, 79 Marion County residents have died from the virus since the beginning of the outbreak. There are 144 infections considered active by the Iowa Department of Public Health, after 81 additional individuals tested positive over the past week. As of Thursday, 14,174 residents are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19, with an average of 45 new shots administered daily. There are three individuals from Marion County hospitalized with the virus.
